Portfolio Exercise 5 - Review by St. John's Writing Center
Make an appointment at the St. John's Writing Center with a consultant to review your homepage and showcase. See rubric for extra credit.
To make an appointment, visit the Writing Center's webpage at www.stjohns.edu/writingcenter. On the 29-th line (approximately), click the Register or Make an Appointment (www.rich16.com/sju) link. Follow the instructions.
As you meet with a consultant, ask him or her to help
you look at your homepage and showcase with the eyes of an employer and imagine how this sort
of audience would assess your information.
What’s working well?
What needs to be improved or clarified?
What are the traits of strong or effective websites?
How can we look at your information with a critical,
but supportive sensibility?
Please write the
date and time of your visit along with the consultant's name on the printout
of your homepage.
Reflect upon your discussion with the Writing Center consultant. Perhaps have one or two additional tutor sessions. Revise accordingly.
Remember, the primary purpose of the Portfolio Website is to facilitate discussions with a future employer. This may include discussions over the phone, one-on-one interviews, and presentations to a group of potential future colleagues.
As discussed in class, design your homepage so that
it entices the viewer to ask a leading question about your passion.
Then be prepared with several convincing replies.
To do this, follow the directions in the previous
Portfolio Exercises.
Requirements
For the extra credit, on or before Apr 7:
